My Story
Welcome to my website!
I am Nikoletta Kovacs (Norca). I am honoured to live in Chilliwack, on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Stó:lō Coast Salish peoples, alongside my wonderful husband, our adorable puppy, and our grumpy senior cat.
I have always been passionate about two fundamental areas: human behavior and the arts. I hold an MSc in Psychology and a BFA in Documentary and TV Directing. After a decade in various media roles, I transitioned to working as a school counselor until moving to Canada in 2017.
In Vancouver, I began collaborating with fellow Hungarian immigrants on a longitudinal documentary that explores the challenges of living far from home and integrating into a new culture. This journey has shown me that collectively processing significant life transitions through artistic creation can greatly enhance mental well-being.
Art, whether through drawing or photography, has been a source of comfort and expression for me since childhood, but I only began painting in my thirties. I find immense joy in experimenting with different art materials. As I approached forty, I embraced my passion for visual arts and art therapy. I am currently pursuing an art therapy diploma at Vancouver Art Therapy Institute, which allows me to focus on the discipline I love while bridging my two professional passions. I am deeply committed to becoming a skilled art therapist.
